Will Rogers Jr spoke at the Williams Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce dinner drawing laughs with home spun humor and noting growth in the community. Dr. Robert J. Rantz was elected President for the coming year with Tim Pickens as vice president and J C Buller as retiring treasurer. Directors named include Melvin Roce Doug Bard Ted Jestes with terms for Earl Roche Tom Gardner and FM Hodgins.
Mohave County Superior Court Judge Chales P. Elmer resigns citing poor health. Elected 1954, he has served as U S commissioner 1938 36 Mohave County attorney 1931 32 and Arizona senator in 1946. Governor Paul Fannin granted immediate retirement request.
Obituary notes the death of Dr. Tinsley aged 72, longtime Arizona State College figure in Flagstaff. He joined ASC in 1927 after crested Butte posting, served as dean of men, director of instruction, and dean of the graduate council. He mentored student groups, earned several honors, and was active in Rotary, Phi Kappa Phi and various associations.
In a Phoenix and Tucson routed brief the Arizona Supreme Court ruled the City of Tucson may take immediate possession of Desert Waters Inc in condemnation actions against State Rep Nick Trabant. The decision follows years of dispute over price setting and possession timing. State education funds totaling 207420 were allocated to 31 districts for handicapped education under a Test legis lature provision, to be distributed by county based on average daily attendance.
Flagstaff hospital auxiliary schedules the Turquoise Bridge charity day at Continental Country Club on April 18. The event features bridge and canasta with 60 tables, proceeds supporting auxiliary projects. Reservations by April 11 via Mrs. James Young. donations $5 per table or $1.25 per person.
Larry Krumm was elected president of the Wlagstaff Jaycees during a Thursday Cham ber of Commerce meeting. He succeeds Jack Jacobsen. New officers will be installed at a dinner Saturday night in the Turquoise Room of Hotel Monte Vista. Other officers include Barry Palmer, Bob Shafer, Dean Schroeder, Norman Adams, Walter Thieme, Don Learman and Leith Christensen.
FBI officials say about 402 people in six years caused false air travel threats. Justice Frankfurter collapsed from transient cerebrovascular insufficiency but will rest in hospital. Weather delays Centaur rocket launch. A gambling operator was on trial in Los Angeles Superior Court.
