Ohlone leave talk may end
Fremont trustees may finalize an academic and sabbatical leave policy for Ohlone College tonight after technical revisions. The plan limits sabbatical leaves to five percent of full-time faculty and allows one administrator on sabbatical at a time, with pay scales up to 90 percent. The board also weighs a $192,239 construction funding request split 73 percent state and 25 percent district, plus a preliminary Mission Boulevard study shared cost with the city.

FDA orders nationwide check of canned mushrooms
The Food and Drug Administration announced a two month nationwide examination of all canned mushrooms in warehouses after an earlier inspection found half of mushroom processing plants had defective equipment or procedures. The move follows botulism recalls and will inspect stock in more than 5009 warehouses, with crews visually checking cans for abnormalities.
