Ford avoids handshakes after gun attack outside hotel
President Ford followed Secret Service guidance and did not shake hands with the crowd outside a San Francisco hotel after two women fired a gun. A 38 caliber bullet missed Ford but wounded a cab driver. Suspect Sara-Jane Moore, 45, is charged with attempting to kill the president. Ford planned travel to Chicago and Omaha while stressing the value of public outreach.
