UC seeks $1.2 billion budget with state funds hike
University of California President Charles Hitch presented a $1.2 billion budget request. State funding would rise by $60.3 million to $997 million, with reductions in research, libraries, and 480 faculty positions cut. Enrollments are expected to ease, and the plan adds funds for organized research and lowers the student faculty ratio.
