Blizzard cripples Rocky Mountain states with heavy snow

The first blizzard of the season raged across the Rocky Mountain region, killing eight in plane crashes and stranding motorists. Dozens of homes and towns were isolated as snow drifts and bitter winds shut Inter state 4, with 1,500 travelers seeking shelter in motels and public buildings across Wyoming. Denver shut down, four inches of snow fell by midday, and a surge in snow tire sales was reported citywide.

Exhumation of Judge Haley Case Reopens Murder Probe

Marin County Superior Judge Harold Haley was exhumed and reexamined by pathologists in San Francisco after Angela Davis and Burthell Magee were charged with murder in the 1970 shooting at the Marin Civic Center. The court-ordered autopsy sought to determine if Haley died from a fatal wound before the shotgun blast. A second autopsy adds new dimensions to the high profile case and Magee faces murder charges while Davis is tried separately.
