Centerville Library Reopens After Remodeling
Centerville Branch of Alameda County Library reopened at 2 p.m. after a two month shutdown. The remodeled site at 37467 Fremont Blvd will ease pressure on nearby Irvington Niles and Newark branches while the main Fremont Library awaits shelving delays caused by a strike. The branch will operate Monday through Thursday afternoons and Friday Saturday mornings, with 60,000 books and the main reference collection still boxed at the main library awaiting shelving.

Welfare critic to meet county welfare board
Leon Riney, chairman of Alameda County welfare, has been invited to meet with the county welfare commission at 1:90 p.m. today. The commissioners, after reviewing the department, indicated they wanted to direct questions to the task force chairman at a special meeting held last month.

Public park open weekends debated in Newark plan
Recreation commissioners advised that Eu Calyptus Grove Park be opened to the public on weekends for four months next year from June to September with a trial expansion. The proposal, backed after prior resident petitions, would still reserve weekday access for groups. A marina feasibility study for Alameda Creek Coyote Hills Aquatic Park was also reviewed, with a fuller report due today in Hayward.
