About 200 firefighters were released after a 1S acre brush fire was declared out. It threatened a residential tract in the Flintridge area and scorched two homes before containment Friday night. Los Angeles County and Glendale crews staffed patrols and remained for ongoing monitoring.

Organizers say about 400 people, mainly Indians, are present while tourists are kept off the island. Newark man Jake Hudspeth, 21, of 5508 Lafayette Ave., was arrested about 2 a.m. after officers found one benzedrine capsule and 11 other white pills in his clothing. Hudspeth faced charges of possession of dangerous drugs and drunkenness in public following a parked car arrest on Fremont Boulevard near Parish Avenue.

Requiem mass for Miguel M Camarillo 90 who died Friday in Fremont will be at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church Union City. Services depart Mortuary 723 Peralta Blvd Fremont at 9 30 a.m. He was a native of Mexico and Alameda County resident of 25 years survived by wife Maria Camarillo three sons John Crispin and Inocencio Camarillo a daughter Celia Martinez and many grandchildren. The rogary will be recited in Fremont Memorial Chapel at 4 p.m. today. Burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Hayward.
Burglars sacked a Fremont residence Friday night while the residents were away between 6 and 10 pm. Loss included a $1700 yellow gold ring with seven white stones, $400 in coins and bills, two wrist watches, a camera, binoculars, a purse, and more. Entry believed gained by prying a kitchen window screen.
Washington UPI reports a pivotal United Mine Workers election on December 9 to decide whether incumbent W A Boyle or challenger Joseph A Yablonski will lead the union. A Labor Department report accuses Boyle of improper salary hikes, nepotism, questioned loans, and unverified spending, while Boyle supporters call the charges irresponsible and Yablonski portrays them as substantiated.
United Press reports an Egyptian raiding party crossed the Suez Canal under cover of artillery. The Egyptian spokesman claimed 130 men killed many Israeli troops and held positions for two hours before returning unscathed. Israeli officials said raiders were driven back by tanks mortars and small arms.
