Medical team profiles Syndrome X at American Heart
ANAHEIM Calif UPI reports a California medical team at the 48th Scientific Sessions of the American Heart Association proposed a coronary artery spasm as the cause of chest pain with normal heart tests. They used a new instrument named hapers to biopsy inner wall tissue via a catheter, finding obstructions in tiny arteries in two of eight patients. The technique lasted about five minutes and contrasted with six pain free patients showing no obstructions.
