Four onetime companions of Banks and Peltier in federal court
Four former companions of Indian fugitives Dennis Banks and Leonard Peltier appeared in federal court in Puhtland Oregon as authorities searched northeastern Oregon for the missing pair. A stolen vehicle tied to Banks and Peltier was found in Hermiston, a farming town of about 4400, near Interstate 84. The two fugitives are wanted for rioting and attempted murder, while four arrested individuals face firearms related charges and possible explosives links. Darlene Nichols and Annie Mae Aquash waived hearings for removal to other states on related charges. Federal officials said the women would be sent to other states promptly.
