Thieu calls neutralism 'stupid' as Vietnam near victory
South Vietnam President Nguyen Van Thieu told a training course near Saigon that victory over the Communists is near and criticized advocates of neutralism as stupid. The remarks occurred during a speech at Vung Tau, amid other political tensions involving Sen. Tran Van Don and Dan, a Senate member challenging U.S. reliance. The report also describes a later, unrelated historical narrative about a Centerville Presbyterian Church and its long-ago pastor William Wallace Brier and family lineage.
