Fire contained after 200 acre blaze near Agua Dulce Canyon
A 200 acre brush fire in the Antelope Valley was contained as winds subsided. Police arrested Jesse Quain finee of Long Beach at the scene and booked him on felony arson charges. About 125 firefighters, 15 fire trucks, two bulldozers and three helicopters assisted in containment.

Niles Merchants Plan Railroad Centenary Observance

Fremont youth arrested in stolen speaker case
Fremont police report an 18 year old, Steven M. M. Southworth of 3877 Bell Street, was arrested Friday night on a charge of possessing stolen property. Officers found a drive in movie speaker protruding from under the driver's seat in Southworth’s car. He said he borrowed the speaker from a friend.
