The Curious Postage Hike And Daily Life Reflections
A wispy, humorous column by Linn Brown muses on vanity and daily frugality. The piece contrasts personal grooming rituals with a looming 33 percent postage rate increase, poking fun at government releases that compare Civil War rates to modern prices while noting the impracticality of such rationalizations. It weaves in memory of ball point pens and 1944 Reynolds products, ending with a light jab at bureaucratic attempts to soften the blow.
