Priest and labor leader among group arrested at Safeway dispute
In Oakland a Hayward priest Father W. J. O'Donnell and Dublin labor official Richard Groulx were among six farm workers delegates arrested after a sit in at Safeway headquarters. They protested selling California table grapes as Cesar Chavez led the United Farm Workers delegation. A crowd of about 200 supported them outside the building while Safeway did not request arrests.
