The Ovations provided music at a midnight buffet style Swing Into Spring dance by the Ladies Guild of St Edward's Church Newark. Proceeds support the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine religious education for public school children. Arrangements were led by Mrs Richard Goudreau with a team of co chairs and helpers.
Barbara Jean Moura and James Franklin Burke exchanged wedding vows at Newark Presbyterian Church. The bride, a Newark High School alumna, wore a white lace gown with seed pearls and carried white carnations with an orchid. The groom, Newark High School graduate class of 1970, works with Universal Airlines in Oakland. They reside in San Leandro after a Hawaii honeymoon.
Miss Joyce Elaine Olmstead and John Laurence Snyder set a July 23 wedding at First Baptist Church in Shell Rock Iowa. Snyder, a 1967 Mission San Jose High School alumnus, plans ministry work after Marantha Bible College in Watertown Wisconsin. Olmstead holds a BA from Marantha and did graduate work at Bob Jones University. She intends to teach in Watertown this fall.
The East Bay Children’s Home Society hosts a Tea honoring temporary foster mothers in Oakland and Fremont. Local women from Fremont Union City Newark are recognized for service. awards include the First Pearl and Pallas Athene honors. Evening events in Fremont acknowledge ESA chapter members and upcoming officer installations at Jorge's Plaza Steak House.
The Our Lady's Guild of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Union City will install officers on Tuesday May 18 at 6 30 PM in the church 703 C Street. A reception and dinner follow at Villa del Grew 726 Mission Boulevard Fremont Reservations due by Sunday May 16. Mrs Frank McNamara is ticket chairman 471 3620 and Mrs Alvin D Tonry is general chairman.
Fremont Dance Club members plan their annual Guest Night Dance at His Lordship's in Berkeley. About 50 members and guests will dance to Larry Cabral and his orchestra with spring color decorations. Club officers and many local residents are listed as hosts and guests for the evening.
