Nixon Thieu letters reveal conflicting Vietnam promises
Conflicting Nixon assurances to Thieu are exposed in two confidential letters released by a Saigon official. The documents suggest Washington privately warned of stronger U.S. action if North Vietnam attacked, while public statements cooled expectations for renewed military force. Hung, who published the letters, argues U.S. actions encouraged South Vietnam to resist communism, contrary to public policy.
