Death penalty delay urged by California AG Younger

California Attorney General Evelle Younger asked the state Supreme Court to stay its ruling on death penalty enforcement until a U.S. Supreme Court decision on an appeal. He also sought a stay to prevent release of dangerous criminals on bail while the case unfolds. The state court was expected to rule this week on Younger’s petition for a stay or review, with Younger preparing further action at the U.S. Supreme Court.
