Four New Haven district trustees clash over human relations program funding
Four New Haven school district trustees warned the program risks being cut if changes are not made. They debated a federal funding request due by March to extend the two year program beyond this summer. Trustees questioned ethnic balance, neighborhood schools, and the use of parent groups with the PTA. Teachers and parents urged continuation. A one on one meeting with John Gomez was set to resolve differences. A separate utilities dispute was delayed for county counsel review.
