A federal court jury acquitted William on the manslaughter charge after two hours of deliberation. The guard, originally arrested for the death of Marin Apia, was cleared as prosecutors backed away from charges citing campus restrictions and prior arrests.
In Sacramento UPI reports Sen. George Moscone said a marijuana bill could reach a vote as soon as next Thursday. The measure would penalties including prison terms up to ten years for possession or use, with lesser penalties for possession of less than one ounce.
