Urgency Bill Passes California Renters Tax Credit Up To 45

California Assembly approved urgent legislation to guarantee renter tax credits up to 45 dollars per payer, amid warnings from Controller Kenneth Cory that refunds could stall in nine days without funding. The measure, sent to the Senate on a 750 vote, would divert 40 million from the general fund to renter relief as the budget shortfall looms. Cory said the current plan covers only 45 million in the general fund and will exhaust by March 15, forcing delays in income tax refunds.
