Solar eclipse study by U C researchers airborne during eclipse
A University of California team uses a Rube Goldberg apparatus and three other instruments in an Air Force jet to observe the solar corona during a total eclipse. The effort, coordinated with Los Alamos scientists, aims to reveal the sun’s chemical composition and temperature from up to 43 million miles away, as the moon blocks the sun for North America for the first time since 2024.
