The Women's Section notes a Candle Lighters project to build two 200000 dollar amphitheatres at Lake Elizabeth. Members voted no after long discussion, with two provisions. The project will be revisited next year and a counter proposal, kept secret, awaits Fremont City Council meeting this week.
Chris Rinaldi of Irvington United Presbyterian Church performed the ceremony for the marriage of his daughter to Gordon K. McNaughton of Fremont. The bride wore a silk organza gown with lace bodice and cathedral veil, carried gardenias and stephanotis, and wore her great grandmother’s wedding band. Attendants included Miss Debbie Rinaldi and Miss Heather McNaughton. The groom is a Fremont native, a 1988 Mission San Jose High School graduate, and manager of the Red Barn Restaurant. the couple plan to reside in Fremont after a Southern California honeymoon.
Elizabeth Kay Garcia and Robert Gwin Smith announce their engagement in Fremont with plans not yet set. Garcia, a John J. Kennedy High School 1969 graduate and Ohlone College student, works at Long’s Drug Store. Smith, Mission San Jose High School alumnus, is a biology major at Ohlone College and serving a National Guard duty.
Miss Margaret Elizabeth Wetzel and George Andrew Pavelek have set a July 17 wedding date. Wetzel, a 1969 Mission San Jose alumna, serves with the Army and is from Fremont. Pavelek, a Cameron Texas native, is a sergeant stationed as an instructor in ground surveillance radar at Fort Huachuca.
Two more organizations have selected new slates of officers. Mrs. Robert Gonsalves will serve a second term as president of Panda Chapter. Assisting her are Mrs. John Burnett as first vice president, Mrs. G Timothy Jones as second vice president, Mrs. Thomas Broglia as recording secretary, Mrs. Bernard Thien as corresponding secretary, and Mrs. Joseph Boland as treasurer.
