The city plans higher services for the year with added staff. Central Park operations cost 141,000 for five park workers as it opens in late fall. Police services rise to 1,511,941 with 18 more officers, a new lieutenant, clerks, dispatchers, and jailers for the new building opening in March 1970.

An obituary notes the death of Susan M Ciaglo four in Washington Hospital Tremont. A Mass is set at St Edward's Newark with services from Newark Memorial Chapel Moruary and burial at Holy Lewicom Cemetery Hayward. She was a Fremont native and Alameda County resident living at 6144 Radcliffe Newark. Her parents Marion and Mrs Ciaglo and sister Nancy Ciaglo of Newark survive.
