Suspect Arrested in Plants Theft in Fremont
Fremont police arrested 34 year old Loonie Lee Harwell, a former Brinkman’s nursery employee, as a suspect in the theft of more than 5000 dollars worth landscaping plants. Det. James Berney led the investigation that recovered most of the plants behind a wiring firm on Mission Boulevard and on Old Canyon Road. Harwell, living at 4001 Nicolet Avenue, worked for Brinkman for 16 months until February this year and reportedly sought to start his own business after obtaining a state contractor’s license in December 1974. Harwell’s attorney says the case is civil and the plants were taken in a joint venture with Brinkman. Brinkman said trucks were damaged the night of the theft.
