Vares of the Knicks scored 19 points to lead a 54 48 win over the Fremont Recreation Department in the Rec's Adult Db League at Hopkins Junior High. Earl McKinney of Mission Valley had 18, but Mission Valley fell 63 54 to Sith State Athletic Club. Hank Escobar scored 10 as Watermen beat Pacers 46 38.

Gambina Withdraws Boxer From Match At Valley Arena
Los Angeles UPI reports veteran manager Ralph Gambina pulled his fighter from a scheduled bout saying the fighter could not get up for it. Gambina advised retirement for Jim Fletcher, 40, as matchmakers substituted Chuck Haynes of Detroit to face Joe Shelton of Cleveland at Valley Arena on Saturday.

Oakland space granted for 2nd annual roadster show
Three Fremont area street rods won display space for the 2nd annual National Roadster Show at the Oakland Coliseum Exhibition Hall February 12 to 21. Owners Jim Gomes Gary Meadors and Robert Swartz of Newark were named exhibitors, with more than 20 other hot rods and custom cars expected for awards totaling 12,000 dollars.
