Fremont Unified School District seeks out of state teachers
Fremont Unified School District launches an out of state teacher recruitment drive starting February 8 in Minneapolis. The district will recruit in 12 states, primarily the Midwest and New England, visiting 35 colleges after dropping 27 last year and adding two new ones. Estimated expenditures total $6,500 with some funds unspent. About 160 new teachers are needed due to enrollment growth and turnover, plus more kindergarten teachers due to potential single-session scheduling. Specialized subjects remain scarce including science, home economics, and special education. Fremont employs many teachers from California State College Hayward and San Jose State College.
