Mission Pine Diner Blaze Causes Roof Damage
An overheated deep fryer started a fire at the Mission Pine Restaurant in Fremont at 8 11 p m causing about 6500 in damage to the roof and contents. About 120 Fremont residents and three engines responded to 43699 Mission Blvd in the Mission San Jose District as diners continued eating and others fled. Fire officials said a faulty switch likely started the blaze spreading via a vent to the roof, burning holes and spoiling food in nearby freezers.
