Feather River Hatchery Care and Challenges in 1978
The Feather River Salmon and Steelhead Hatchery at Oroville is praised for its efficiency and contribution to California’s runs. It notes the need for artificial rebuilding as natural spawning areas shrink, details a virus in rearing ponds at 45 degrees that killed juveniles, and describes efforts to blend well-water to maintain 50 degree rearing conditions.
