Fremont explores federal jobs program impact and funding
Fremont officials map the Emergency Jobs and Unemployment Assistance Act of 1974 allocations, detailing a roughly 440000 share for the city to hire about 35 positions plus 1 in the school district and others at Washington Hospital and Ohlone College. The piece traces CETA history, missteps in grants, and how Washington changes reshape local staffing and funding, with council weighing salary levels and project scope.

Newark to Hire New City Jobs Under Federal Plan
Newark to add five to fifteen new positions across police fire clerical and maintenance to counter unemployment under the Emergency Jobs and Unemployment Assistance Act of 1974. City officials will decide exact counts with the county Training and Employment Board and place hires in Newark Union City or Castro Valley with strict screening and paid holidays sick leave and two weeks vacation if the program lasts longer than a year. The plan funds full time posts though fringe benefits are limited and the projectile says duties mirror existing jobs with certain aides performing clerical or maintenance tasks.
