Nixon critics plan Peking tyranny drama for Americans
Conservative critics of President Nixon’s China visit announce a Tuesday event by the Committee for a Free China to educate Americans about life under the Peking regime and to bolster Nixon’s leverage with Premier Chou En-lai. Rep. Walter Judd, longtime Nationalist China ally, leads the group and warns against any agreement jeopardizing non-Communist Asia. Radio evangelist Carl McIntire also condemns the trip, calling Nixon’s visit a disaster and urging a circuit of anti-China messages. The effort includes a “truth squad” to monitor China’s mainland and UN actions, plus a study of the United Nations’ usefulness.
