Macrame maker Jean Holmes turns hobby into business
Jean Holmes, inspired by crafts teacher Mrs. Folz, began macrame classes in Castro Valley for the Southern Alameds County YWCA. She created kits with boards and cords, selling through local shops. Her designs include ornate butt pins and sashes, showcased at San Jose and Olive Hyde shows, earning a second place at the Interfaith Festival.
