Kissinger says US won’t back PLO talks until Israel exists as a state
In a Newsweek interview Henry Kissinger states the United States cannot back negotiations with the PLO until the Palestinians recognize Israel as a legitimate state. He warns that any vision seeking Israel’s destruction ends real negotiation prospects and notes broader hopes for policy continuity during the Nixon to Ford transition. He also cites difficulties with Soviet Jewish immigration talks and shifts in Cuba policy.
