White Christmas Snow Spurs Sierra Ski Rush This Weekend
Snow conditions improve across California resorts with Sierra Ski Ranch reporting 13 inches of fresh snow atop 52 to 65 inches on the slopes. Mammoth Mountain and Badger Pass tout very good skiing as Lake Tahoe area winds complicate conditions. Bear Valley shows strong turnout as Christmas festivities begin, with twists in ski activity and discounts. Dodge Ridge offers Christmas lifts to 2 pm and expands family services and a junior race camp running Sunday to Friday with Far West Ski Association sanctioned competition.

Salmon Run Reports Hint at Strong Winter Fishing
The Sacramento River area shows steady salmon action with many anglers reporting limits and 25 pounders, while areas like the Eel and San Lorenzo face mud, low flows, and poor conditions. Steelhead are present in spots such as the Trinity and Russian rivers, with lures like flatfish and sardine fillet producing fish. Water levels are fluctuating, and forecasts suggest improving conditions into the weekend amid ongoing storm activity.
