Death after respirator unplugging in Florida case
A comatose Florida woman, Celia Cain, died after a court-ordered 45 minute removal of life support. Doctors said brain activity had ceased and heart stopped at 12 38 p.m. The judge, Duval Circuit Judge John S. Cox, set the window and required physician confirmation before declaring death. Cain’s husband supported the order, seeking closure for the family.
