Judges blamed for rise in crime rate in Hayward

40 Arrested After Racial Violence in Elyria

In Elyria Ohio late Wednesday into Thursday 40 people were arrested amid a second night of racial violence on the southwest side following the shooting of a black burglary suspect by a white officer. Governor Rhodes deployed 90 Highway Patrolmen. state troopers and local deputies patrolled with random vehicle checks. Arrests were split between white and black suspects and charged with offenses from public intoxication to inciting riot and carrying concealed weapons. There were no lynchings.
