Reagan's wage veto upheld by Assembly in California
The Assembly voted 35 to 27 to sustain Ronald Reagan's veto of a bill requiring replacement workers who earn more than strikers to be paid the striker's wage. The veto preserves the governor's emergency authority to call state workers during strikes. The session had previously upheld similar vetoes on welfare reform measures.

Ordinance clash stirs realtors in county split
Realtor Rollin Cunningham, ex-Fremont councilman, urged realtors and ranchers to oppose a planning commission backed amendment to the county subdivision ordinance. He warned it could wipe out 70 percent of current sales and push undeveloped land prices beyond reach. The draft measure would require five or more parcels per division and force maps, access and utility designs to be filed, targeting unregulated splits in Murray and Pleasanton townships.
