Local youths begin new courses. Klan event noted

Seventeen people from the area attend a Ku Klux Klan conclave held in Red Oak last Thursday evening. The Misses Enid and Marion Wagner depart for Ames to study home economics. Gail Burke returns to Creighton University in Omaha to resume his studies after summer break.

Ten years ago, September 26, 1946, nearly all church members and friends attended the cornerstone ceremony for the new Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church building. Rev. H. J. Belsheim laid the stone as the building received a formal dedication moment.

Teens Recover From Sprain After Accident at Home

Twenty year old local notes report 13 year old Jessie Miller sprained his ankle days ago but is recovering well. Thorle Robison, employed at O W Shaffer and Senostaga, was struck on the head by a drill Friday but is able to work again.

T M Contract Bridge Club Meets Oak Ridge News

Local notes report the T M Contract Bridge Club gathering at Mrs Schellenberg's home with high score by Mrs Erlandson and runner up Mrs Newell. The next meeting is set for October 4 at Mrs Herrison's.

Mrs Joe Newell Hosts Afternoon Party for Women

Mrs. Joe Newell entertained twelve women at a Thursday afternoon event and prizes for winners went to Mesdames Lyle Wohlleber Gail Harrison and Ted During. A luncheon was served during the social hour. Visits with relatives followed in Coon Rapids where Mrs. Miner and Mrs. Baker visited at the home of Mrs. C A Yager and with Mrs Dick Sister who had been ill.

Jolly Dozen Club Holds First Fall Meeting

The Jolly Dozen club met on Thursday September 21 at Mrs Vern Duthies home with twelve members and their families sharing a cooperative noon dinner. The afternoon included social time and vacation trip reports and Mrs Gahon Goon will entertain October 5. Recovery news notes Norma Mortensen visiting friends from Atlantic last week and Norma is progressing well with crutches around the house.

Harrison Farm Sale Draws Good Attendance

A large crowd attended the Harrison farm sale with Mr and Mrs Harold Larsen visiting from Coon Rapids and assisting with the closing. Livestock and machinery sold for good prices while Kenneth Pierce, from Red Oak, attended the S W Iowa Shorthorn Breeders Association meeting and entered two polled short horn bulls in the sale.
