W F Budd of the Tribune Publishing Co purchased the Anita Record from Azel Ames who had acquired the paper weeks earlier from the heirs of the late Sherm F Myres estate. The item notes community interest and business activity surrounding the sale.
The text notes that Mrs. George Arnold and Raymond Wagner, visiting in the city with J. A. Wagner and wife, left Monday for Ames where he attends school. Dora Jean Campbell is in a very critical condition this week with stomach trouble.
Mrs. Gablon Goon was pleasantly surprised at her home last Sunday evening by relatives and friends. The gathering honored her birthday anniversary with a picnic supper and social games.
Conservation officers report 76 prosecutions in August for law violations. Arrests were for illegal fishing with convictions in every case. Other infractions included 7 hunting and 6 trapping cases.
The Technicolor musical Wonder Man features Danny Kaye in a dual twin role with Virginia Mayo and Vera-Ellen. Edwin Dingle impersonates murdered twin Buzzy Bellew, while romance and nightclub hijinks unfold at the Metropolis Opera House era setting. The plot pursues justice with lively musical numbers and comical misadventures.
Mrs. Paul Nichols entertained the 8.0. S. Club at her home southwest of Anita Institute Thursday afternoon. Ten members and three guests attended. Mrs. Heath won the decor prize. Lunch was served. Mrs. Kermit Bailey will entertain the September meeting.
