County Board Proceedings in Atlantic August 19 1992

The Ozas county Board of Supervisors met with all members present. They approved minutes from August 8 1952 and released Dale Cornell J P from liability effective March 10 1932. Davis Leander resigned as Clerk in the Treasurers Office effective September 1 1952. The budget hearing noted no objections and the budget was accepted for filing. transfers to the Construction Fund were approved and refund checks issued for overpaid surfacing costs. adjourned to September 2.

Skunk Attack Injures Local Woman Near Griswold

Mrs. Fred M. Walkinshaw of Pleasant Ridge northwest of Griswold was bitten on the leg by a skunk in a farm yard as she attempted to drive the animal into a cage. She suffered no serious illness but has begun rabies treatments. Marilyn Joyce Fredrickson of Audubon Route 2 weighs seven pounds 13 1/2 ounces and was born at 1:25 p.m. Monday in Audubon County Memorial Hospital the facility’s first baby. Her birth marks the hospital’s opening week, with gifts to follow from 67 county merchants totaling toys food cash and other items.

Street widening plan near Health Center restricts two way traffic

The plan reroutes traffic along the alley behind Mrs Christina Shirm and the Catholic church due to narrow conditions at Health Center corner. About 200 800 bricks will be removed from the street through Adair and stored around the pump house as the town’s property.

Peaches from Panora Reported as Largest Yet

Mrs. Marsha Nelson of Panora called the Guthrie County Vedette to say she has grown some of the largest peaches in Iowa. About 30 peaches hung on a first year tree, each weighing around four ounces and about ten and a half inches in circumference.

Highway resurfacing project approved for Adair

A contract has been let for resurfacing the highway through Adair and work is to start soon. West bound traffic will detour through town via Wol verton and Ernst Hat ichery streets to Adair Health Center then Wall street etc. East bound traffic will detour north from Jensen Service Station to Wall street.

Checks Cashed From Six of Thirteen Stolen

Six of thirteen stolen checks from the Extra Floater desk have been cashed at various Atlantic and Audubon businesses totaling 5168. Signed by Carl Reed, the checks were reported by R L Miller. Suspects include a 35 year old man. sheriff continues investigation with more checks expected.

Rialto Theatre Renovation Promises New Season Films

Twenty years ago on September 15 1932 the Rialto Theatre began renovations and announced upcoming pictures including Once in a Lifetime Bird of Paradise and Back Street. The Anita Gay side reunion listed many Garsides Kraus Crow Weaver and Jensen families. Cass County rural schools will include Bruce Peters Lewis as a teacher. Monroe J. 1953 Hunting Laws Ready for Iowa Hunters

The 1953 hunting laws are now available from county recorders conservation officers or the State Conservation Commission in Des Moines. They exclude trapping and migratory waterfowl regulations. waterfowl rules are posted in post offices and duck stamps cost two dollars for anyone over sixteen hunting migratory waterfowl.
