East County Line News reports the Silver Thread club met last Thursday with ten members and one visitor, Mrs Rex Stephenson, a centerpiece contest favored. The Jolly Dozen club met with Mrs George McDermott, twelve members and one guest, with gifts exchanged and New Horizon magazines to be mailed for the American Cancer Society Cass county. Anita remembers 40 years ago September 1914 storm
A September 1914 electric storm hit the Anita area, striking the H B Campbell house in North Anita and a family’s barn on the George Wild place. P A Johansen and Mrs Joy plus Mrs Joy’s mother Lavina White were delayed returning from Shenandoah. Henry Wiegand bought a barn 88 shop in Belgard. The 1915 Overland model O was fast.
