Anita Football Jamboree Planned for Sept 15

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 210 held its annual Parley in the Legion dining room on August 29 at 6:30 after lights dimmed. Retiring president Mrs Robert Duff was inducted as a past president with Mrs Ella Biggs conducting the ceremony. A memorial service honored departed members Mrs Elvira Hyde Mrs Ine Stone and Mrs Roma Newton with candles. Condition Improves After Heart Attack at Omaha Hospital

Mrs. Phil Trachtenberg, who suffered a heart attack at the Omaha hospital she entered for a check up, is greatly improved but will remain hospitalized for a time. The Anita Methodist WSCS hosts its annual mother daughter pot luck dinner at 7 tonight Sept 4 with women of the school faculty as guests. Church women are asked to bring baskets and table service.

Observation post open at Anita for two days

The Anita observation post will operate next Saturday and Sunday, September 7 for 20 hours from 8 AM to 6 PM atop Rasmussen's Hatchery. Volunteers will man two to three person shifts. expected up to about one hundred planes may attempt to bypass the post and will be reported to Omaha. The post seeks additional volunteers.

Rhode Family Moves Into Apartment Over Bonnedens

Mr and Mrs Louis Rhode and daughter moved Monday into the apartment over Bonnedens. Mr Rhode arrived about a month ago to work for Anita Lumber Co. and his family waited to move from Doon due to housing. The Lutheran Sunday School class will sell forget me nots on Anita streets next Saturday September 6 for Disabled American Veterans.

Polio Fund Tournament Nets $96.15 At A Round Robin

In a Sunday softball round robin Extra beat Adair 2 to 0 while Anita edged Fontanelle 1 to 0. Proceeds totaled 96.15 for March of Dimes with 56.15 from the tournament and 45 from a prior summer league final. Anita received 56.15 for the March of Dimes from Harry Swartz. Vera Hood chairs the organizing group. Anita has previously donated about 700 to March of Dimes last spring.

Anita Day Parade Glides Through Downtown

At one o clock Wednesday after noon Anita hosts a lively parade with flag bearers Mayor Alfred Dement on horseback and the Offutt Air Force Base Band. Floats, foot riders, bicycles, and horses follow past the fire house as local businesses clubs and school bands join the event. Fire trucks from nearby towns join the celebration with coverage to continue in next week’s issue.

Massena Church Ordains Two For Gospel Ministry

The North Massena Baptist Church ordains Rev. Dale Johnson and Rev. Norman Hoyt as missionary candidates. Johnson will serve in Brazil with the Brazil Gospel Fellowship Mission. Hoyt will serve in Africa with the Sudan Interior Mission Board. Ceremony included laying on of hands, certificates, and charges to the candidates and church.
