Bad check law proves unpopular in municipal courts
The new bad check law with stringent penalties and nondrop provision has lost popularity. Since its start last month, many prosecutions were pursued, offenders arrested, and fines levied, but victims find little satisfaction when checks go unpaid. Prosecutions under the act have fallen to a fraction of prior numbers.
Banks End Saturday Evening Window for Safety
The State Bankers Association urged Waverly banks to stop the practice of staying open until nine on Saturdays. Banks there will now close at four o'clock on Saturdays to reduce hold up risk and align with other state banks.
