Bad check law proves unpopular in municipal courts

The new bad check law with stringent penalties and nondrop provision has lost popularity. Since its start last month, many prosecutions were pursued, offenders arrested, and fines levied, but victims find little satisfaction when checks go unpaid. Prosecutions under the act have fallen to a fraction of prior numbers.

Mrs JF Gissibl Dies After Two Strokes

Mrs J F Gissibl, a longtime Lincoln township resident, died at home Tuesday afternoon after two strokes suffered Monday evening. She was 87 or 89 years old, depending on source spelling. Survived by husband and several children. obituary to follow in next week's Tribune.

The twenty third Cass County Fair will open in Atlantic Iowa on September 5. Officials promise a bigger event with expanded Live Stock Floral Hall and Agricultural exhibits.
