Anita People Plan Christmas Activities and Talks
Members of the Anita club gathered in the church dining room for an October meeting to sponsor a Christmas tree for children and a local Christmas program. Chester A. Long and others were chosen to arrange activities while A Karns will again handle Christmas lights. Speakers shared town growth memories, school training updates, and a Red Cross drive appeal.

Claude Spry of Wiota was reelected president of the Casa County Rural Carriers association at the annual meeting Friday evening at the home of Charles C. Ruhr in Atlantic. G. Karnes of Griswold named vice president. Ruhr secretary and treasurer. The Women’s auxiliary elected Mrs. Art Beebe of Lewin president and others to offices. Twenty-five attended the joint meeting. John W. Budd and family rented the Jared Blattner residence on Rose Hill Avenue. the Blattner property was sold to Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Blue. Herbert Bartley and family move from the Blattner property to a location south of the Congregational church.

A big indoor barbecue will be held Saturday afternoon at the republican headquarters at 517 Chestnut Street in Atlantic. County and legislative candidates will be present to meet voters and the event will end with an 8 PM address by State Senator William S Beardsley of New Virginia at the city hall auditorium. The public is invited to attend both the barbecue and Beardsley family.

The Pepper Pats 4-H club of Lincoln township elected officers for the coming year at a regular meeting held at Miss Frances Way's home. Iowa corn crop smallest in years this season
Iowa's October USDA report estimates corn at 198 million bushels from 22 bushels per acre with 48 percent harvest condition, far below 1933 and ten year averages. Potatoes, soybeans, flaxseed, buckwheat and alfalfa show mixed yields and high hay production, while Des Moines reports higher auto theft rates than Chicago in the latest DOJ survey.
