Plight of Iowa Aged Tied to Health and Jobs
A Iowa State College sociologist, Ray Wakeley, analyzed five hundred old age assistance cases in Hardin county. He found that poverty among the elderly stems from earlier life health issues or insufficient earnings, not thrift. The study, deemed representative, notes dependents skew toward widowed or divorced, rural villages, and higher disability rates among dependents. Investments sustain non dependents, while education correlates with non dependence. none of the college educated were dependent.

Fake Chick Inspectors Reported In Iowa
Advice has reached farmers about impostor inspectors who travel in parts of Iowa claiming to represent organizations and authorized to inspect poultry and remove diseased fowl. They offer to buy birds at fake market prices and promise remedies that supposedly cure sickness, with costs matching the poultry value. Some arrests have been made.
Lincoln Township District No 4 Holds School Closing Picnic
The school patrons celebrated the closing of the school with a picnic attended by sixty seven patrons and friends. A banquet dinner was served at noon and the afternoon featured ball games. Miss Lillian Oler has been the teacher at the school.

Graduation ceremony at Wiota marks seniors' diplomas
Commencement held last Wednesday in the Wiota consolidated school auditorium. 26 seniors received diplomas as a large crowd watched. The program featured a pro cessional, invocation by Rev. M J O Connor, orchestra and quartet, main address by Hubert Garrett of State Teachers college, P T A scholarship awards to Belle Armstrong and Jack Aldrich, and a cornet duet. The event concluded with diplomas presented by Claude Dorsey and benediction by Rev. M J O Connor. Teachers hired for Wiota consolidated school include superintendent Joe O Connor, principal Arnold Christ, and several teachers from Maryville Audubon Malay Bonesteel Fort Collins.
