Funeral services for Mrs. George Pratt widow of George Pratt will be held today at 2 o clock at the Anita Methodist church. The former Lena Young of Anita died suddenly Saturday at Youngstown Arizona. She and her husband moved there January first from Wapello Iowa. Survived by husband and several nieces and nephews. Burial in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs Sadie Wagner Pioneer of Anita Literary Society
At 85 Mrs Sadie Wagner of Anita led a life of civic service. She helped found the Literary Society in 1908 and served as president and secretary. Since moving to Anita in 1905 she headed the Congregational Women’s Fellowship for 25 years and remains active in church. She is the mother of Mrs Solon Karns and has a grandson and great grandson in Kentucky.

Plans for Ahs Alumni Banquet Set for May
Anita High School Alumni Association board met at Mrs. Carl Moore’s home to plan the annual alumni banquet at Anita Elementary School on May 29. The event attracts many former students and is open to parents of the graduating class of 1959, whether or not they are alumni. Tickets go on sale about May 15 with locations to be published in next week’s Tribune.

Hawkeye State Selections Named for Anita Students
The Anita Post of the American Legion announces Tom Miner as Boys' State representative and Carolyn Millard as Girls' State representative from Anita Community School. Each year one boy and one girl from the junior class attend the week long programs in June at Camp Dodge near Des Moines and Iowa State Teachers College Cedar Falls. The camps simulate government with parties, campaigns, and a full athletic and recreational schedule for more than 300 Iowa students.

Blue Ribbon Awards to Anita Scouts
The Anita Boy Scout Troop won blue ribbons for each patrol at the Camporee held at the Atlantic 4-H grounds last Friday and Saturday. Inspectors praised the troop’s progress since reactivation. Ten scouts and three explorers attended, tents were pitched Friday, a camp fire was held, inspections and scout work followed, and the Falcon Patrol led by Denis Reed demonstrated cooking for the public. Other patrol leaders were Greg Scholl and John Walker.

Lake Bear dies at 64 in Long Beach California
Lake Bear former Anita resident died Monday at his Long Beach home. Born May 30 1894 in Shelby County he lived in Anita most of his life and ran the family garage with his father and brother John. Survived by wife Esther Smithers two children John E. Bud and Mary Jane Mitchell two granddaughters two sisters and several nieces. Burial and funeral services will be in Long Beach.
