Anita Senior Wins Three Year Nursing Scholarship
Miss Carol Virginia Osen daughter of Mr and Mrs Clarence Osen of Anita has won one of six three year nursing scholarships awarded by the Iowa division of the American Cancer Society The award covers tuition fees books and uniforms for three years of nursing training at an accredited Iowa school She plans to attend Iowa Methodist Hospital Des Moines and must complete training and practice in Iowa for two years after graduation The program aims to relieve nursing shortages and expand services for needy cancer patients in Iowa Miss Osen a top student at Anita High School who will graduate this month is active in music sports dramatics and church choir She wrote in her essay that nurses help the sick and injured who depend on others

New Ball Park Discussed at Anita Meeting
A Wednesday night meeting with the school board town officials and Greater Anita Club reviewed plans for a new athletic park. Proposals include a combined baseball softball field a playground and running track with lighting. A committee led by Les Eddy and Skip Dement will study feasibility and the land at the football field site jointly owned by Anita Public School and town. Cooperation is urged to move the project forward for year round use.

Eighth Grade Visitation Day At Anita High School
On Monday April 30 eighth grade students visited Anita High School to learn about high school life. They attended regular classes with freshmen then joined a school wide program at 11 entertainment included musical numbers skits and square dancing. Coach Peters spoke on the benefits of a high school education. Lunch hour mixed eighth graders with students and enjoyed recreation.
