Anita Community School hires three teachers for fall

Superintendent Gret C Hornbuckle announced three new teachers for the Anita Community School System to fill vacancies at term end. The hires include a married couple from Northwest Missouri State College and a Tarkio College graduate Miss Joan Nelson who will teach sixth grade.

450 Grade School Pupils in Program Here Friday Night

About 450 students from kindergarten through 8th grade in Anita will perform Friday night in a Vocal Music Program at the Anita gym at 7 o clock. The free event is open to the public and marks the first time this type of program has been presented locally. Each grade will perform three numbers, with the whole group singing two together. The program opens with America the Beautiful and the flag presentation, then concludes with America. Director is Leland Blae. The arrangements committee includes Donald Brown and Mrs Carl Moore, Mrs Gay Karstens, Mrs Charles Paul Mailander, with Tom McLuen as master of ceremonies. Accompanists are listed and the gym is decorated with trees birds and spring flowers by Mrs Fries, Mrs Brown, and Miss Darlene Bleachery. The committee includes Westphal and Wheatley.

Buyer at HOS Station Opens New Hog Buying Station

Calvin Klise, former local, is the new buyer for John Morrell and Co hog firm at a Marshall station opened April 22. The Klines and two daughters move from Sioux Falls to Larstall Falls after school ends. Mrs. G. M. Adair suffers a badly mangled right hand from a washing machine wringer incident last Tuesday.

Mike Lamberty Wins $25 Gift Certificates In Anita Game

Ayito event Saturday night proved lively with players and sponsoring merchants enjoying a smooth game. Jerry Reilburn led as caller from the Red Cross station with Gene Brochner and Roger Eddy assisting. Mike Lamberty of Viota won the first $25 gift certificate, with four other players named as finalists. All five advance to Gran Prize Games planned for next winter. next Anita game is scheduled for Saturday at 9 PM in downtown Anita.

Funeral today at Anita Methodist for Frank Osen

Funeral services are held at 2 PM at Anita Methodist Church for Frank H. Osen 86 longtime Anita resident. He born June 18 1870 north of Atlantic married Katherine Myers June 5 1901. Surviving seven sons two daughters twelve grandchildren one great grandson. Burial in Atlantic cemetery.

Terry Dean Hummer Killed in Bicycle Accident in Omaha

Terry Dean Hummer eight son of Dean Ro Hummer of Omaha was killed Saturday when his bicycle collided with a delivery truck in Omaha. Funeral services were held yesterday in Des Moines. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. He was born January 4 1949 in Norwalk. Surviving are his parents a sister Debbie two brothers Keith grandparents and great grandparents.
