The ninety first Iowa State Fair announces higher premiums, boosting total cash offerings to about 148 500. Open livestock classes add 3 500 to 1948, with horses 22 000, cattle 25 000, swine 18 200, sheep 7 600, and poultry 8 800. 4 H and Future Farmers of America plan 27 000 in prizes, including a 2 760 increase for National Shropshire Sheep Show winners.
