A Mutual Telephone Co lineman Ray Floyd fell thirty feet from a snapped pole on East Twelfth street while removing dead wires. He was unconscious then treated and sent home with severe back and knee injuries. Reports later suggest his injuries may be less severe than initial notices.

Local supporters called on residents Tuesday to fund a first class team in Anita. The initial eleven donors contributed 920.00 each totaling 200.00. A committee reports growing encouragement and hopes to raise about 3600.00 to place Anita on the western Iowa baseball map. Residents are urged to add their names and funds.
The Minert school hosts the Literary and Debating Society with strong members including W. H. Armstrong Rev. W. J. Lewis A. L. Harris and P. R. Nichols among others. Music by Harris and Slavage complements recitations dialogues and songs. A mock trial is set for Friday March 13 with I. N. Taylor vs W. H. Armstrong as plaintiffs and defendants respectively.
A February birthday surprise unfolds at Thos Hardersen’s Eureka township residence for Miss Mary Marguerita, who learns of the party and hosts a royal evening of games music and refreshments. Present were many local families and friends including Croxton Brockman Reed Nichols and Tierney and Miss Mary receives a gold adjustable bracelet among other gifts.
A farm owner advertises a public sale northeast of Anis with cattle hogs and farm implements, offering 6 percent cash discount. Sale scheduled at Sam Morgan's Feed Barn in Anita on Tuesday March 17 1908 featuring eleven horses two Jersey cows and assorted cattle. Other notices include hotel moves and real estate business shifts in Anita and Avoca with local auctions and transfers.
