Unseasonably warm and dry conditions with winds up to 50 mph kept the Anita fire department busy on Saturday. They responded to calls at Cecil Waddell’s Merrill Nichols farm near Berea and Jim Weber farm south of Wiota. Last rites were held for Mrs. Larry Faulkner. Veterans push plan to fly flags on Decoration Day at Evergreen Cemetery. Fire Chief Albert Karns named Harold Wilson assistant chief, replacing Gene Brocker who has retired after 13 years of service.
