Rev A V Long and Mrs Long of Jefferson Iowa announce the birth of a baby girl on February 15. This is their fourth child and the second daughter in five years, with the Midwest facing favorable conditions and higher yields anticipated this season.
Miss Enid Eileen Schwab, local beautician, suffered chest injuries several broken ribs and a badly cut knee when she fell asleep at the wheel in the early hours Sunday. The accident occurred about 3 30 a m and she is a patient at Atlantic Memorial Hospital. Mrs Ray and Mrainer jy tuning the beauty shop for Eileen.
The Greater Anita Club met last Thursday at the Methodist Church with thirty attending. Church women served a dinner. Plans were made to send Anita high school basketball to the state tournament in Des Moines. Free movies to begin at June Lin Concert Park. March meeting to be at the Christian Church.
Anita school board held its annual banquet in the high school Domestic Science room last Wednesday evening. Supt. and Mrs. D. By Littell were hosts to board members and their wives, with Joyce Paterson as a guest. Home Economics girls served the meal with teacher assistance. each lady received a nine rose favor and Washington’s Birthday decorations set the tone. Supt Littell showed three educational films before a social hour.
Mrs Mary Manion travels to Des Moines after her sister in law dies. She attends the funeral services Wednesday in Des Moines with burial in Adair.
Gene Whitkiis fell Saturday noon near the Atlantic Produce place and broke the elbow. Paul Brown of Anita and Wm Brown of Glenwood left for Indianapolis to visit their mother Mrs Bastia Brown and two sisters Bartha Brags and Pauline Brown.
An all high school party sponsored by the Pap people under Mrs. Lucille Littell filled the gym on Friday February 28. Decorations featured St Patrick colors and balloons as students participated in games and contests hosted by Clifford Fries and Opal Fries. Wayne Johnson Marvin Warner and other seniors received gifts while Open the door Richard provided novelty piano and dancing followed by lunch and a square dance finale.

NEW GRANDSON Mr and Mrs O Henneberg have word of the birth of a grandson Robert Joseph weighing seven pounds announced February 2th at a San Francisco hospital He is the son of Mr and Mrs Robert Henneberg Robert is stationed with Army Headquarters in Yokohama Japan Mr and Mrs Hornwell passed through on their return trip from California to Armstrong Town They are resting after spending more than a month in California Also mentioned are former residents Anita and Gladys Pray
Mr and Mrs Charles P Jensen of Anita plan a Golden Wedding Anniversary open house on Saturday March 8 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 at their South Locust Street home. They married March 8 1899 at Kin near Exire and have lived in Audubon and Gui counties. They now reside in Anita with five living children Burkhalter Omaha Titus Guthrie Center Moriarty Greenville Elwood Mansena and Axel Jensen plus six grandchildren.
The American Legion and Auxiliary held their regular monthly meeting in the Legion basement on Fat. 28. The treasurer reported $36.95 cleared from February dances and lunches. Ruby Biggs spoke on serving lunch at Anita School P. T. A. Leah Mehlman reported on Cumberland County dinners and birthday observances. Mrs. W. T. Biggs gave a talk on Americanism, and plans were made for a March 16 covered dish supper and Lincoln Washington life contests won by Mrs. Floyd Dement and Mrs. Paul Muilander. Penny Murch collection reached 88 cents and lunch was served to 40 members.
Robert Miller, son of Mr and Mrs Tom Miller, was guest of honor at a surprise birthday party Sunday evening at his home. Five boys attended and presented gifts after games and tests, followed by a lunch and a decorated birthday cake prepared by Mrs Miller. On Monday he was again honored at a dinner with more gifts.
Sunday evening events feature Mrs. 2 Scholl hosting a dinner for the Auction Bridge club with Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Robine and Mrs. Rotz. The group enjoyed a game and social time after dinner in a Tribune Want Ad style notice.
